B1 ENGLISH TEST INTEGRATED SKILLS IN ENGLISH (ISE I)

Listening skills are tested thoroughly in the ISE I exam, and this lesson focuses on two critical skills: understanding the main idea of a conversation and catching specific details.

The lesson begins with listening exercises featuring different types of audio, such as interviews, announcements, and casual conversations. Students will first focus on identifying the main idea—what the conversation is generally about—before moving on to specific details like dates, names, and figures.

The lesson will emphasize active listening strategies, such as note-taking and predicting what information will come next. Students will also practice understanding context clues in conversations, helping them make educated guesses when they don’t understand every word.

A section of this lesson will focus on how to deal with different accents, as the exam may feature speakers from various regions. Students will practice with audio samples in different accents and speeds, gradually increasing in difficulty.

By the end of the lesson, students will be better able to listen actively, understand both general and specific information, and respond accurately to listening comprehension questions.
